New Important News for Existing Customers

As of August 1, 2007, we are beginning the move to a 3rd party host for existing hosting customers. Whistler Media will no longer be providing hosting services to new customers as our services are changing to travel and vacation travel application management.

We are excited to have new services for tourism and activity operators available sometime in 2008 as we rebuilt our dataservices.

November 20, 2007 - Apparent power supply failure is the reason for prolonged outages with web and database services. We are waiting to hear an assessment but have no new updates yet. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and hope to have the situation resolved soon.

November 24, 2007 - Our worst nightmare has been realized. In the middle of transferring our services to a new machine. We experienced a hard drive failure and still an unknown is if we can recover our backups. Technicians are working on this problem and still awaiting news on this issue. Most client websites had already been transferred to new machines, however database services for our new project was still running on the older equipment and is potentially subject to data loss.

About Whistler Media

Whistler Media has been alive in different forms since 2001. We started as a web hosting company that slowly started to specialize in cold fusion web development.

Always a tough juggle in Whistler combining work and play, we've slowly found our niche and have stayed strong since.

Fast forward to 2008...Whistler Media stopped doing business in the early summer of 2007 for web hosting and programming to concentrate work on its own travel and activity portal.

In August 2007, all of our services were transferred to Sun Bowl Systems in Whistler, where they had a hardware failure after installing VMware to our main server without proper backups being taken before hand and causing the loss of some significant services. We apologize sincerely to all our previous customers for this inconvenience.

The database that would have powered our own travel portal was significant in size and we have been slowly putting it back together and after estimated to have the site launched for the spring of 2008, we have only just neared the completion of the database rebuild at the beginning of July 2008 so we hope to have it running, being realistic, by fall now.

In the meantime, we had actually booked a few tours on the web site and our ski rental reservation manager should be up in time for ski rental services to take advantage of our online reservation system.
